Twenty One Stills from Still Moving 34”x122” (11”x17” each) Gicleé Prints on Japanese Rice Paper

These manipulated video stills have limited visual details, which allow each viewer to bring his or her own story to the work. My muse is my daughter Zoe, who is spontaneously free-form dancing. The simplicity of gesture and the absence of color allow for a greater freedom of expression and interpretation.

My sanctuary is the convergence of my perceptions, my intuition, and my actions. I am unaware of when I enter my sanctuary, but sense when I have left it. It occurs when I lose an awareness of time passing. Still Moving captures those extracted moments in time, thus revealing “my santuary.”
